Rana violated the regulations outlined in Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct in a statement. The statement mentioned that he received fines of 10% and 50% of his match fees for two different offenses.
The IPL statement did not provide specifics on the incident that led to the code of conduct violation, but it may have been related to the 22-year-old’s celebratory actions after Mayank Agarwal’s dismissal.
After dismissing Agarwal in the sixth over, Rana strolled past the SRH opener and playfully blew him a flying kiss.
“Rana confessed to the two offenses and agreed with the Match Referee’s penalty. In cases of Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s ruling is conclusive and obligatory,” it further stated.
Rana maintained his composure and successfully defended 13 runs in the final over, securing KKR a victorious start to the season.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ fast bowler Harshit Rana became a hero with his exceptional final over in the four-run victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, his gesture towards Mayank Agarwal after dismissing him got him into trouble. Rana showed his frustration by blowing a flying kiss to Mayank as he departed for the dressing room.
Even though Rana faced criticism from fans for his celebration, Mayank remained composed as he maintained eye contact with Rana before calmly walking away, de-escalating the situation. On the other hand, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar expressed his disappointment with the young Indian uncapped pacer for his behavior.
